But this sun-soaked community is also a great place to relax, unwind, and explore the area's diverse attractions. Whether you're traveling with friends, family, or even just on vacation, you'll find something to suit all your interests.

Do a bit of shopping or sightseeing on the iconic Garnet Street, a thriving hub of cafes, shops and boutiques. There are also a few great spots for dining out in Pacific Beach and nearby Mission Beach.

Head to the popular SD Taproom on Garnet for a range of San Diego's legendary craft beers, or check out the Pacific Beach Fish Shop for ocean-fresh tacos brimming over with grilled fish and crustaceans. Or, if you're looking for more casual fare, the Lahaina Beach House is a good choice.

Aside from being a great place to hang out and grab a bite, the Garnet Avenue neighborhood is also home to some of Pacific Beach's most iconic bars. You'll find the popular Kono's Cafe on this block of restaurants, where you can enjoy a hearty breakfast or Mexican dishes any time of day.

If you're craving a little exercise during your visit, hit the boardwalk. Depending on your preference, you can rent a scooter or bike and pedal your way along the pristine 3.2-mile-long Ocean Walk, which runs parallel to the shoreline all the way to South Mission Beach.

Alternatively, you can catch a whale-watching tour and get up close and personal with these massive, awe-inspiring creatures. These majestic sea creatures make an annual appearance along the coast of Pacific Beach, and a whale-watching trip is sure to be one of the highlights of your San Diego adventure.

Take the plunge into a new sport at Bad Axe Throwing on Garnet Ave, where you'll be challenged to use your throwing skills to break out of a themed room and figure out a puzzle. You can also check out Quicksand Escape Games, where you can put your wits to the test in three themed escape rooms.

The Grass Skirt Polynesian Restaurant is another top pick for a Pacific Beach dinner. This Polynesian-themed eatery is located near a few other Pacific Beach hotspots, and the expansive grassy slope offers some of the best views in the city.

You can also grab some fresh seafood and a cold beer at Waterbar San Diego, an upscale waterfront restaurant with ocean views. Aside from a selection of local brews, the menu features a variety of fresh fish and grilled steaks.

A few blocks away, there's the Pacific Beach Alehouse for a delicious lunch or dinner with friends. There's also a handful of trendy bars and restaurants to choose from, including the Lahaina Beach House, Baja Beach Cafe and the Pacific Beach Fish Shop.

Thrilling rides at SeaWorld in Mission Bay, just south of Pacific Beach, are another popular option for a thrilling day out with the kids or family.
